Mission Project

This year at Firefly, we’re very excited to support Operation Christmas Child as our mission this summer! Operation Christmas Child is a program run by Samaritan’s Purse that sends shoeboxes to children around the world to share God’s love. The boxes are received by children who often live in impoverished communities with very few resources, and may not have ever received a gift before. We would love your help in collecting items to pack in shoeboxes to aid in our mission! Each week we will be focusing on different categories of items, but all items are accepted at any time. We request that all items are brand new, rather than used, and any tags are left on the items. Any items with glass, liquids, camouflage patterns, or war-related iconography cannot be sent. All the items we collect will be packed in shoeboxes with lots of other things, so make sure they are small enough to fit inside a normal-sized shoebox!

Week 1: School Supplies

  • Pencils and pens
  • Coloring books
  • Crayons
  • Pencil sharpeners
  • Small notebooks

Week 2: Personal Items

  • Combs and hairbrushes
  • Washcloths
  • Hair ties
  • Socks

Week 3: Toys (most small toys will work, but here’s some ideas!)

  • Balls (any size, as long as they fit in a shoebox!)
  • Dolls
  • Play-doh
  • Jump ropes
  • Small cars (like Matchbox or Hot Wheels)

Week 4: Change

  • Each shoebox costs $10 to ship anywhere in the world! We’re asking that you bring in loose change to help send our boxes to where they need to go.
